Spring Break 2009 - Easter Edition

As you see, I was unknowingly sucked into the whole "Easter Outfit" scene. I was thinking I'd just put Bright in a sweater. Then I saw this while we did some shopping in Detroit: a plaid suit for my little guy - on sale. It's apparently not just about Easter dresses for little girls.

We had a wonderful Easter. After a great church service and lots of visiting with friends, we spent time with at least parts of both families. My sister had our family over for lunch (thanks Auntie J), and we welcomed Jon's parents home from two weeks away doing work in Africa. Brighton did it all in his first suit.

Spring Break 2009 is behind us. I'm already well into another week of our normal routine. If you couldn't tell from our posts over the last week or so, we had a wonderful break. I feel rested and rejuvenated on a lot of levels. As the temperatures get warmer, I am brimming with excitement about playing outside with Bright, and I'm absolutely ecstatic that summer is only a handful of weeks away.

To make things even better, there's a lot of fun events and celebrations between now and then. I love this time of year, and it always goes by so quickly. Hang on folks! Summer will be here before we know it.

Brighton doesn't understand all of this yet, but we are surely looking forward to sharing it all with him. He wasn't too small for the Easter Bunny though.

Spring Break 2009 - Outside Edition

Spring Break is almost over, but we loved having slightly warmer temperatures and some sunshine this weekend.

Spring Break 2009 - Chuck E. Cheese Edition

The extended Walcott Family celebrates lots of birthdays in April. This week we were so thrilled to celebrate with our nephew and neice, Braden and Reina, at Chuck E. Cheese. Neither Jon nor I had been to a place like this since our youth. We weren't quite sure what to expect. I assumed Bright was too little to really enjoy the place, but I was so wrong. We all had so much fun. He was so hyper when we got home that he was up nearly two hours past his bed time.

Spring Break 2009 - Nordstrom Edition

Spring Break 2009 - Pool Edition

Bright had never been swimming until this past weekend at the indoor waterpark at the Best Western Sterling Inn. We spent time in the splash park and the "big kids" pool. We were worried on day one, but he become more and more fond of the water each time we were there. During our last visit to the pool he was having a blast for quite some time and then even while his teeth were chattering. We're glad he loves the water, and look forward to a great summer of more water fun.

Spring Break 2009 - Arctic Edition

This past Saturday we spent a good part of the day at the Detroit Zoo. Brighton did end up sleeping through a good portion of it, but Rob & Lisa met us there. The five of us had a great time, and we especially enjoyed their Arctic Ring of Life Exhibit - polar bears & seals. We heard on more than one occassion that we were getting a good show from the polar bears, and we totally agreed. Jon was able to capture some of these experiences on camera - all picture credits go to him.

Spring Break 2009 - 1st Edition

We're home now from our long weekend away. This was the first of many fun experiences. BK was the only fast food place on the exit we took. I wasn't too excited initially, but I didn't realize they still had crowns!!! Bright wore his the entire time we were there, and he tried a few french fries too. It was a great start to a great weekend away. More Spring Break 2009 details to follow soon...
