Memorial Day Weekend

You'll be able to tell by our pictures that this Memorial Day Weekend was TONS DIFFERENT than last year's. As we did lots of fun stuff with Bright for the first time, we were constantly reminded of this.

I am really looking forward to summer vacation...honestly, I can hardly wait. I will gladly chase my son around all day. Six more school days...

Bright's final birthday celebration was with my family...or should I say the monkeys? We did a monkey theme for this party, and everyone really got into it. They even wore hats and did the noise maker thing. Bright obviously had a blast, but so did we.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day came and went. In addition to appreciating our mothers, I've been a mom myself for almost an entire year. Wow! I really can't believe it.

The Nykamps decided to celebrate some birthdays on this day too. Gina just turned 17 and Bright is almost one. Aren't they cute?

You will not find pictures from last year's Mother's Day posted here (now or back in 2008), but I can't help but remember the day. As we were awaiting the arrival of our son, I was absolutely huge, but Jon was nice enough to give me an awesome ice-cream maker. What a year it has been!

My Mother's Day gift this year wasn't a suprise, but it's fabulous none the less. It's actually a gift for all three of us, and we look forward to putting many more miles on it. We've only tried it out a couple of times, but we already know that as soon as Bright adjusts to having his helmet on, the ride puts him right to sleep. That's a great gift too.

Tulips are Bloomin'

Tulip Time for the first time through the eyes of our son has been a great joy. I don't Dutch Dance anymore, but we've been downtown Holland twice, and we have plans to go again Friday night. It's been fun seeing so many friends and family. The weather has been great too, and did I mention the food?
