Bright's Birth Announcement

Below is Bright's birth announcement. I sent one to many of you, but I thought I would share it here as well. I was thinking of doing something like this myself because I have been dabbling in digital scrapbooking, but due to my extended stay in the hospital I decided to just pay someone to make it for me. Our announcement is from Sweet Baby Designs. They do photo birth announcements like this one as well as invitations and holiday greetings. I was thrilled with the design, the service, the communication, and the finished product. It ended up being quite easy which I really needed at that time. Enjoy!

I was able to spend Father's Day with two out of three super special dads in my life. Yes, I know it's Wednesday night and I'm just getting around to the post. Sorry for the delay.

We did celebrate Father's Day with Jon's dad early; he's in Turkey giving a tour right now.

Jon and my dad enjoyed part of the day by wakeboarding together, and I got to go along to snap some pictures. Jon LOVES wakeboarding. He hopes that he can still be wakeboarding when he's my dad's age.

Jon enjoyed his first Father's Day this year. I know he would say it was pretty special. In about a month, he's already become a great dad. Bright is super lucky.

Bathin' Bright

Bright loves the bath! We are having a great time with him. See all the hands helping out. Yes, he's still a rock star. His hair gets really curly too after we wash his hair. Is that normal?

And there were pants

Bright lost his umbilical cord at his early morning diaper change, so today he could wear pants. You can't see it real well in the picture, but Auntie JoJo decided his shirt needed to be tucked in. His pants are a bit big, so that meant they needed to be hiked up to his chest. Poor kid!

And yes, I know that is the ugliest binkie/pipie/pacifier. Bright is one of those kids that got hooked on the brand that the hospital gave him. I've got quite a few cool ones here at home just waiting for him. I hope that he'll adapt to those shapes when he gets a bit bigger.

Bright made his first trip out to dinner tonight and he stopped at the hardware store. We can't seem to get him to sleep now - go figure.

Jon's parents are leaving tomorrow for Turkey for a couple weeks. Doesn't that sound awesome? We have a real bath planned for Bright. Simple pleasures :)

Bright isn't alone

Brighton isn't the only baby at the Walcott house. Right around the time that we welcomed Brighton James, a family of ducks welcomed several babies in the woods behind our house. We've had a lot of fun watching them grow. Now after all the rain, they've been literally living in our back yard because a lot if it is under water or really wet.

Maybe we should start feeding them to keep them around. Be sure to check out the Walcott ducks the next time you're here.

It Rained & It Poured

Check this out! If you've been to our house, you know what our pond normally looks like. We've never seen it like this before. That's a good part of our lawn under water. It doesn't look like it, but the water is still a long ways from our basement. We're thankful for that, and we're very lucky.

If you live in West Michigan, you know we were hammered with rain, and if you don't, chances are you heard about it on the news. Our weather made national news today.

The grass is sure green around here, but we're all hoping for some dry-out days in the forecast.

Four Generations

Brighton James is one lucky guy. He has four grandparents and eight great grandparents, and he has met all of them.

No Lite Bright

We had Brighton's two week doctor's appointment this week. We could really sense that he was putting on weight, so we were surprised when the nurse said he only put on 3 ounces bringing him to 8 lbs. 13 oz. The doctor was surprised too, but also concerned. He decided to weigh him again after he recalibrated the scale. Bright all of sudden weighed 10 lbs. 5 oz. - big difference huh? The funny thing is they have him at a different height too. Only different by a half an inch, but we're choosing to go by what the hospital said when he was born - 22 inches. Brighton is is the 75th percentile for weight, height, and head circumference.

His face is really filling out, and he even has a cute little double chin. I'll try to get some pics of our little chunker (oxymoron...sorry - English teacher, couldn't help it) up this weekend. It's supposed to be beautiful around here. We can't wait. We have stuff planned with both families. Jon says Brighton is a rock star when it comes to our families and friends (right now anyway), and we are his roadies. Pretty accurate analogy I would say, and I wouldn't want to carry gear, support, follow, and absolutely adore anyone else.

BIG Weekend

The Walcotts had quite the weekend. Friday was our 5 year anniversary. We share that anniversary with several friends of ours. Hope you had a great day VZs. We also now share the date with Kim & Aaron. We attended their wedding at the Amway on Friday night. It was our first outing outside of an appointment at the pediatrician last week.

Kim & Aaron's wedding was beautiful. We had a great time, and I was so thankful that I was able to attend. We were able to visit and meet a lot of people including Aaron's family from Philadelphia. Kim & Aaron will be moving to State College, Pennsylvania after a two week honeymoon in Italy. We are ecstatic for them.

We were able to visit with lots of friends including Angela (my college roommate) and her husband Jon.

Dan & Jordan babysat Bright upstairs in our room while we were at the wedding and the reception. Kim told the Amway that we were celebrating our five year anniversary, so because we had celebrated our wedding at the Amway five years earlier they upgraded us to a beautiful suite.

Following our time at the Amway, we headed to the Raterink Cottage for the rest of the weekend. We hadn't been there in quite some time, and we missed Memorial Day Weekend because I was still in the hospital. We know Bright will grow to love this place as much as we do.

Jon got to finally wakeboard for the first time this year too.
