Summer Project

The weather and Bright's enthusiam for painting brought about my boys tackling a summer project in the middle of March.  Brighton energetically painted for three hours!  As you can see, he's not that good at it, but I love that Jon went with it, and they still got the job done.  Bright ruined his clothes and shoes, but I guess now he has official work wear like his daddy.  Also, our swing set really looks like new.  Way to go boys!

Fresh Air Fun

The weather around here has truly been a topic of conversation, and not just because we have nothing else to talk about.  From the mildest winter that I can remember, we now have record breaking warm temps.  It's hit eighty degrees!  Spring fun has come a bit early this year, and we're lovin' it.  Tilden got her first good dose of fresh air.  She likes being outside and thankfully likes her stroller too.  This mama is so very thankful to get out of the house.  Brighton was excited to head back to the neighborhood park.  He even wore shorts to school today.  Jon decided to tackle some outdoor projects, but more on that in the next post.  Hope you're enjoying the sunshine!   

They're Open

If you live in West Michigan you can see  we're referring to Captain Sundae.  We all headed out for our first ice-cream cone of the season this weekend.  This mama ate her cone in the car with Tilden, but even so, when CS opens warmer weather is near.  How sweet it is!

Around the Pond and Through the Woods

After a short hike through the woods behind our house there is a subdivision with some new home construction.  With the wonderful weather this weekend the boys found themselves outside for quite a few hours.  On Saturday and Sunday they found their way over there to do some exploring.  They found a HUGE dune-like sand pile next to a new house.  Seriously, it's probably nearly as tall as the new house.  The boys of course had a great time, and they brought a huge part of that sand pile back with them. 

They're going to have a blast when they get back into the dunes...aren't they?

Bright's Look Book

Brighton and this mama needed to get out of the house to do something fun.  So we headed to Deana's Playhouse on Friday with the cousins, and we left the baby at home.  It was obviously tons of fun for Bright, but it was also really nice for me to get out even if it was to a playhouse.  There is tons to do at Deana's Playhouse, but the theme of the day for us was costumes.  The kids were lovin' it.  They all sported different looks and then strutted their stuff on the small stage. I sat and soaked it all in. Here are a few of the costumes I was able to capture...

There were several bins of costumes which equated hours of fun for the kiddos.  I left with a smile on my face too, but admittedly I'm also wondering how often the costumes are washed.

Precious and Priceless

Tilden Jo had some newborn pictures taken by Tammi at More Than Words Photography.  This was almost a month ago already as these picutures are taken during the first week of life.  Tammi is fabulous, and she is really finding her niche in newborn photography.  It is not easy to get these beautiful shots.  Here are a few of our precious and priceless favorites...

Tilden's Crib

Tilden isn't sleeping in her crib yet, and she isn't sleeping through the night yet in case you're wondering.  We're up every three hours at this point, and yes, we are tired.  I do look forward to when she slips a bit longer and we move her into her room, but I'm not wishing this special time away either. 
For now, her room is just cute to look at or if you ask Brighton it's a nice place to play.  There is lots of wide open floor space and a crib which he can hop in and out of on his own thanks to the nearby rocking chair.  It was super cute when Cousin Urban visited this week and followed Brighton right in there, so I had to share this adorable picture of both boys having a great time.

Bath Time

Bath time is quite the operation now with two kids.  I know you other parents can relate.  When we all need a bath or shower, it feels like the process takes hours.  Tilden is starting to get used to the tub.   And in case you're into that "Who does she look like?" ...here is a link to a pic of us bathin' Bright when he was about the same age.    

Extra Measure Ales

All three Walcott boys are now into brewing their own beer.  We haven't done three batches with all three brothers at once yet, but I'm sure that would end up being an all day project and tons of fun depending on if you ask one of the boys or one of their wives.  It's quite a complicated process, but they are quite cute and funny through the whole process.  In all honesty, I'm really happy that they've found something that they really enjoy and can do together.  
The first two batches turned out great, so yesterday we did another two batches.  Now that we're kinda into beer brewing, we decided we needed a title and label.  After quite a bit of brainstorming we came up with a name for their brews: Extra Measure Ales.  "Extra Measure" is a Walcott Family term and inside joke.  The term comes up in conversation, jokes, and prayers. It always makes us smile. Now it's time for it to show up on a beer label.  If you're a close enough bud to one of the bros, maybe you'll be lucky enough to try an Extra Measure Ale.  

  

Peter Pan Please

We still really like pirates over here.  We have a pirate costume.  We know the story of Peter Pan quite well.  We watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates on the Disney Channel.  Peter Pan made a guest appearance on that show, and that was a HUGE deal at our house.  Now we've started making our own pirate items...

Pajama Parties

We've been spending a lot of time in our jammies lately.   Brighton is even lovin' his jammies.  He asks to get them on early - love that!  That is because one of his favorite things to do (and mine too) is to have a "Pajama Party."  Besides the pajamas this usually includes popcorn, a movie, and all of us together just prior to bedtime.  This happens a few times a week.  This is our life right now, and I love it.
