Brighton Meets Tommy Turtle

Captain Sundae is open. Yipeee!!

"The Deal is Done"

Most of you know that one of the things I never have to worry about is anything related to cars. I don't have to worry about car maintenance, broken parts, cleaning cars, or when the time comes...buying cars. I am sooooo thankful for this. Jon handles it all, and he is great at it. We've been tossing around the idea of getting Jon a new car for quite some time now. Jon had even taken home a couple cars from work to give them a test drive. A couple weeks ago he asked me how much money we had saved and what we could afford. I told him because I'm more in the know with our finances. Before I move on I need to back up. For the last year or so Jon was driving my car. My beloved Grand Prix. It's been my car since 1998. I love that car, but I needed something more mommy friendly, so I've been driving something else for about a year now. Wednesday night Jon and I were sitting on the couch together taking a rare couple of minutes to just talk. He told me he had secured a buyer for the Grand Prix. I was really happy for him, and then said, "I guess I'll have to say goodbye." As you can imagine, this car and I have been through quite a lot together - 10 years of a lot. Jon paused and then said, "The deal is done. It's gone." Whoa! I didn't know how to respond. Ultimately I'm super thankful this all happened without me having to lift a finger, but my car is gone, and I didn't get to say goodbye or take my picture with it to document our ten year plus relationship. I was thrilled to hear that my car is going to a young girl about the age I was when I got the Grand Prix originally. I know they'll be great together.

Oh well, my husband is totally thrilled with his new car. Four doors are fabulous when you're dealing with a Brighton and a carseat. By the way, it's a Chevy - go figure.

9 almost 10

Brighton had his nine month check-up today, but he's really almost 10 months - just one week away. The coolest part of today's doctor's appointment was that there were no shots. Yippee!! That was an unexpected gift for all of us today even though the doctor did tell us they pretty much make up for it when we go up for his one year visit. That's not until after school is out though, and in my mind that seems much more manageable.
We were thinking Bright was slimming down, and we were right. He weighs 22 pounds and is 29 inches putting him around the 60th percentile for height and weight; that's down from the 90th percentile. He only added an inch and about a pound and a half since his last appointment in December. He still eats like a champ, but maybe all the exercise he is getting has something to do with it. He is a hyper-active explorer - into everything! He wobbles around (very close to walking we think) with that large, 90th percentile, simling, and noisy noggin of his.

Learned it from Great-Grandma

24 hours later Bright was showing Jon how it's done all while trying to catch his balance on a rocking chair.
