Three Plus The Weekend

We ended up having three snow days in a row last week...that's right...THREE! I think that has to be some type of record for West Michigan. Brighton and I didn't get out of the house until a Sam's Club run Friday morning. We had a great time together on those unexpected days; they were a gift. With that kind of time, we explored every nook and cranny in our house and spent longer than usual in our jammies.

We spent the weekend at home too with some more time outside. Jon even decided to get the grill out which was a real treat after being snowed-in.

Jon and Brighton built their own chairs in the snow bank to sit in while they waited for supper.

2011 Blizzard: Snow Day #2

I am enjoying a second snow day today due to what will probably be known as The Blizzard of 2011. We were hit with a ton of snow from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning. Jon has several hours in on snow blowing our rather large drive way. Our street still hasn't been plowed, and Jon got stuck twice along with some of our neighbors.
I love that the days off came in the midst of a really busy week. Bright and I have been having a great time being snowed in together. We're home again today not because it is storming or snowing again, but because not all the streets and sidewalks are plowed yet.
It's actually a beautiful day today. The sun is shining, so Bright and I decided to get outside and check out all of the snow in the sunshine.

Family Snowmobiling

We all three climbed onto a sled this weekend. Having a two-and-a-half-year old does limit the length and speed of the ride considerably, and rightfully so. Even so, we were quite impressed by his interest and stamina. He willingly wore a helmet, and he stayed warm. Jon and I did both go on one or more rides without Brighton as well, and those were great too as conditions this weekend were absolutely perfect. Getting all three of us on a snowmobile though was really special. I suspect it's the start of something we'll do as a family for many years to come.
