My X Games Boys

The weekend has arrived. The X Games are to Jon like the annual Nordstrom sale is for me. I should be thankful that the X Games only happen twice a year (winter & summer). For those of you that don't know, the X Games are the Olympics for extreme sports (skateboarding, dirt bike riding, etc.) This year Jon was eagerly anticipating watching with Brighton mostly so that years from now they can talk about it.

Jon only freaked Bright out once so far when he reacted loudly to a bad crash. I have a feeling it won't be the last time.

This weekend there will be lots of TV watching (thank goodness for Tivo) and discussion about crashes and new tricks. I will do my best to listen and share a small portion of his excitement.

Sleeping Situation

1. Bright is no longer sleeping in his cradle because we found him with his arm stuck out of the side. We moved him into his crib and therefore his nursery earlier this week.

2. Bright dropped his middle of the night feeding the last few nights, so Mom and Dad are getting a bit more sleep. We're hoping to keep it this way.

3. Bright is sleeping without a swaddle now mostly because he was always kicking out of it. We use the zipper blanket thingy now (pictured above). Have you heard of the swaddling controversy? My mom heard from a few nurses at the local hospital that they're debating it and that the staff can't agree...obviously it helps infants sleep, but apparently it can cause shallow breathing that could lead to suffocation. Have you heard anything?

4. Bright has started to take a couple short naps during the day, so Mom can get a bit more done like write this post.

Lovin' the Sleeper

Don't you remember when you could wear a sleeper? Ah....wasn't that the best?

Bright wore a sleeper for the first time last night.

I think he's hooked.

Bright's Stats

Bright had his two month doctor's appointment this week. I was a little nervous that he was going to be huge. In my eyes, he's growing at a rapid rate. He's 13 pounds and 9 ounces. He's 24 inches tall. That puts him in the 75th percentile for weight, height, and head size. Same percentile as his two week appointment. He's growing very well.

And yes, he did get his shots. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (for either of us). Since we're on the topic I will write that after lots of thought, talking, and research, we have decided to vaccinate Bright according the American Academy of Pediatrics. I'll leave it at that because I know this is a hot topic and some of my readers disagree.
